When I first joined Silverback a little over a year ago, my body was struggling to recover from a difficult post-partum with bonus spinal fractures. My back was curved, my posture stooped, and my core muscles weak and not working properly; and I struggled both mentally and emotionally knowing I couldn't easily pick up my busy toddler or carry him around for very long. Over weeks and months, Dawn, Kathy, Mel, Ellen and the team gently helped me adjust positions and modify exercises to suit my limitations, and offered the perfect mix of support, guidance, encouragement, and challenge. Gradually I could feel my muscles strengthening and lengthening, my chest and posture opening, and my confidence and mental resilience returning. After such a long time feeling shaky and unsteady, hesitant to do things in case I couldn't manage, I discovered I felt grounded, secure and was moving with more awareness and confidence. I can't thank the team enough for what they've done for me, and what that's done for my family. My son loves to visit my "stretching" class, and often comes to pick me up after - and I love knowing I can *physically* pick him up, and carry him home with relative ease - even after one of Dawn's more intense classes! Answers to help you feel confident from day one.
Do I need to be fit or flexible to start Pilates?
Not at all. Our classes are designed for everybody, with tight hips, sore backs and all. We’ll guide you from wherever you’re at.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself, a water bottle, comfortable clothes and grip socks. If you don't have these, you can get them at the studio. These are worn for hygiene and safety.We’ve got the rest covered, including all equipment.
How do I know which class is right for me?
If you're unsure, reach out. We’re happy to chat and recommend the best class or session based on your goals, experience, and any injuries or concerns.
I’m pregnant/postnatal – can I do Pilates?
Yes! Many of our members come during or after pregnancy. Our instructors are trained in pre and postnatal Pilates and can tailor movements to suit your stage and needs. More than 16 weeks? Our Pre & Postnatal Develop classes are perfect for you.
What if I’ve never done Pilates before?
You’re in the right place, and we're excited you're about to start your journey with us! Our Develop classes are the perfect place to begin.
How big are your group classes?
We want to give you the best experience with individual guidance, so our classes are capped at 10 participants. This ensures you get the attention and support you deserve in every single class.
